Armand Burgun has always believed you should not do something because you are good at it but because you are passionate about and personally inspired by it.

Mr. Burgun was deeply passionate about advancing quality health care in the United States through the establishment and promotion of consensus-based design guidelines and other publications, advised by research, for use all across America. He further envisioned that states, other regulatory agencies, and designers of health care facilities would use the FGI Guidelines to develop facilities for the benefit of U.S. caregivers, patients, families, and communities.

This eponymous award was given in grateful acknowledgment of Mr. Burgun’s 50 years of extraordinary leadership, dedication, and vision in the development and use of many generations of the FGI Guidelines.
